The Quilt

A few years ago, I would have told you that I would never, ever quilt. Well, I still don't consider myself a quilter, but I am going to attempt to make a twin sized quilt for Little S to use as her beadspread when she moves out of her crib. The idea came when my friend (an avid quilter) said to our other quilter friend, "I love a home with quilts in it." It made me think how nice it would be to have on each child's bed a beautiful handmade gift from their mother.

I'm going for a wild color scheme. I'm not using Amy Butler fabrics, but you can see some wild quilts that are my inspiration from Amy Butler site.

I think I'll use some leftover fabric scraps to make this cute project, also from Amy Butler.

What a cute idea! I have been trying to get my friend to teach me how to quilt. We were at D-land on the 21st and 22nd. We didn't realize it was stpring break and it was packed! When were you there? Is S still in a crib? If so, that rocks!

I'm so excited for you to make little S her big girl quilt. You will find that while you are making the quilt you will be thinking little S and how much you lover her. Quilt take a lot of time and thought and someday she will appreciate how much love you but into her quilt.

Fyi-Make sure you put a label on the quilt when you are done. Haley's says something like "I hope when you sleep with this quilt you will know how much I love you and have nights filled with good dreams" Not that long ago she pointed out to me that Ruby may have bad dreams often because her quilt doesn't say that she will have good dreams. Obviously I need to make a new label for her.

Good luck!

Such a great idea! I just ordered a quilt for Sam's twin bed. She's got a trundle bed in her room already; just need a cute bedspread. It's brightly colored, to match her curtains and other decorative stuff in the room. It's a Madras pattern. I'm really excited...but not so excited to put Sam in a bed that she can get in and out of whenever she wants!!! AAAHHH!!!
